App helps contractors to manage status of their jobs in real-time

As part of the City’s legible Sydney wayfinding system, more than two thousand street braille and raised letter signs are being installed throughout the City of Sydney.

The braille and tactile signs will be installed across the City’s local area from March 2016, making it safer and easier for people of all abilities to navigate the streets.

Our role

Rüppells Griffon, in partnership with one of Sydney’s leading signage companies Metalplaque, developed a customized application to manage job scheduling and tracking of the work being completed by contractors and staff for the 2 stages of work. The work was divided into 2 stages, removal and cleaning of old existing signs, and installation of new tactile signs at every pedestrian traffic intersection across the City’s local area.

The cross-platform application developed by Rüppells Griffon for City of Sydney allows users to visualise their tasks and location of assets through an interactive map interface. They are also able to snap photos and report in real-time completion of tasks. Photos and tasks are automatically geotagged, enabling HQ to monitor the progress live as it happens. Another feature is the ability to report issues that may prevent the continuation of any work, the issues are automatically send to the manager for actioning.

Customised app

We took a minimalist approach to the design of the app.

Taking into consideration workers out in the field, we designed large buttons for the mobile application, and a clean and intuitive interface, to ensure the ease of use for all involved in the work.

The password protected admin panel and dashboard, managers can have full view of work and status, they can reassign tasks, add or remove work, visualise assets and plan future work.

Why us

Rüppells Griffon has vast experience in creating customised applications for our customers. Whilst other job tracking applications do exist, they are expensive, try to do too much, and end up losing focus, which adds complexity making them difficult to use.

By understanding the needs of each client, we are able to create the best solution for each project. We can keep costs down by developing only the required features, we develop everything in house, and use open-source software for all of our projects.
